Spiritual: q Donated Bibles and Daily Bread devotionals are available in the office with signs that encourage clients to freely help themselves if they are interested q Christian books q Flyers from supporting Churches are displayed q Office staff pray with clients when requested q Signs are displayed listing New Hope’s sponsoring Churches q Scripture verses are posted on the whiteboard in the reception area. A volunteer recently posted Jeremiah 29:12-13 “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” q Beverages, homemade cookies, and encouragement from the office staff Resources: q Vouchers for gasoline q Financial assistance for certain non-narcotic prescriptions q Financial assistance for emergency vehicle repairs q Housing/Rental assistance q Emergency travelers assistance q Assistance for utility shut-off notices q Firewood q Some Food Gift Certificates Available for Thanksgiving & Christmas q Emergency Food Supply (We keep a small stash in the office, but direct people to the Mead Food Bank and the North County Food Pantry up in the Elk area) q Clothing Bank – We refer clients to Christ’s Community Closet sponsored by Green Bluff United Methodist Church q Referrals – We help clients find additional agency resources such as contacting Kiwanis Clubs for cribs, SNAP for utility assistance, the CHAS Clinic for medical needs, etc. q Toiletry Items (Clients are invited to select six items from our stock every other month) q New Hope acts as a Go-Between. We accept donations from people in our churches – household items like furniture, appliances, linens, kitchenware. Items are kept in the storage unit until requested by clients. We have even had cars donated. (those aren’t kept in the storage unit!) q Donated books for adults and children q Musical instruments for children are loaned on an annual basis to families who cannot afford to rent them q Musical instrument repair – Clearwater Music has volunteered to repair and clean our clients’ children’s school musical instruments Chore Services for Seniors/Disabled that are Offered If/When We Have a Volunteer Available: q Carpentry – Basic Home Repairs q Plumbing Repairs q Electrical Repairs q Snow Removal q Respite Care in Homes Where a Caregiver Needs a Few Hours Away q Transportation to Medical Appointments and Errands q Housework q Yard work Events: q Easter Basket Distribution q Spring Gardening Clinic q Spring Yard Clean-up for Seniors/Disabled q Backpacks & School Supply Distribution q Coats for Kids Distribution q Fall Yard Clean-up for Seniors/Disabled q SNAP Living Green Program in the autumn q Annual Christmas Wreath Sale to Raise Funds for New Hope q Annual Christmas Party for Clients q Annual Tree of Sharing for Children of Clients Special Resources: q A volunteer has taught a free ballet class to children of clients q A volunteer helps clients with social security paperwork q A volunteer repairs donated bicycles to be given to children of clients q Some Churches donate food baskets or food gift certificates during the holidays q RSVP knits and donates hats, scarves, mittens q Individuals knit and donate hats, scarves, mittens q Sewing groups have donated quilts q Children’s Church groups have donated decorated jars of cookies, soup, muffin mixes q Schools and Churches have held blanket drives for New Hope q Area school social workers contact New Hope when they have children with specific needs that New Hope might be able to help with
